Two Year Diploma Course in Counselling

Has been accredited by Addiction Counsellors of Ireland (ACI) and by
The National Association of Pastoral Counselling  & Psychotherapy (NAPCP).

Cuan Mhuire is a movement established in 1966 by Sr. M. Consilio Fitzgerald.  The mission of Cuan Mhuire is to provide a context in which persons who feel rejected and dejected because of an addiction become aware of and learn to deal with underlying problems related to their addiction and discover their uniqueness, goodness, giftedness and real purpose in life.

Cuan Mhuire is now Ireland’s largest multi-site provider of detoxification and addiction treatment.  It caters for approximately 54% of all those in residential treatment for addiction.  The expansion of Cuan Mhuire has called for a great need for trained personnel.  Out of this need has developed the Two Year Diploma Course in Counselling at Galilee House of Studies.  The course is open to all those who meet its entry requirements viz:

  • Have undertaken a satisfactory interview.
  • In addition applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

A) Have a Leaving Certificate with a minimum of 250 points
B) Have a relevant QQI Level 5 award or
